So Much Happening

It's been a very busy week. This next one will be too as I start off with parent-teacher conferences tomorrow morning for one of my 2 classes and stay late Tuesday night for the other.

Last year I felt like I was "on top of my game" in a way I'd never felt previously. For the first time this year, I feel that way again.

This week I:

-had an amazing 2 Green Shuls meetings on Sunday. In the first I met with the committee and we redefined our goals. Then two of us when to the shul president to discuss those same goals and he was filled with both support and suggestions that made this all seem feasible.

-arranged a speaker for my grade. I've never done this before. It's scary... there's only so much control you have of what will happen, but I did it. My supervisor even wrote me a letter complimenting my work.

-was approached fairly last minute to have my students help promote a food drive happening at work. They did it and one of them was interviewed by the press... I still don't know what publication exactly. That part was out of my hands, but I think it was the Jewish Standard.

-used some great teaching moments.

-just wrote a drash for Vayishlach that I'd love to deliver in shul. I might not be able to as Shmuley Boteach (who lives here in Englewood) is scheduled to speak. However, I also proposed the shul include a page on their website to include drashes by community members. We'll see how it goes. As we get closer to Vayishlach I plan to post it here too.

ND and U are doing great too. I've been careful to set aside time for ND every evening, despite how much I have to do. We all have dinner together almost every night. Also, last week U. and I left ND with a babysitter at night (the first time she's gone to sleep with a sitter) and with to a Itzhak Perlman concert! It was so much fun to go out together. ND did pretty well with it although she woke up around 4 and called for me. When I came, she pushed me away several times. It took a few minutes before I could convince her I really was her mother. When she saw it was true, a huge smile washed over her. Then she was worried that U. was away. I took her to see he was there and she was finally able to relax again.

I'm looking forward to a few days off at Thanksgiving.

The biggest challenge still? How to be content when I'm not constantly in motion? I'm proud of my accomplishments, but do I do them to compensate for something else?
