Ye Olde Day Trippe

Today we went to Philipsburg Manor and learned about life in Colonial times.

We got to see a stone mill really work and see how barrels, firkins and hogsheades are made. (All look like barrels but are different sizes.)

We talked to this lady about herbal remedies and such, both useful and not-so-useful.

Looked at animals...

and scenery...

I'm proud of us for doing something neat on a Sunday other than housework.

Oh, and you know - I used to live 10 minutes straight up Route 9 from Sleepy Hollow. It's so weird that you're so close to my old stomping grounds.

(The sad thing is, as long as I lived there, I drove past Phillipsburg Manor a few thousand or so times. Never went in.)

Well, as I said to U., "The reason we're doing this is to remind ourselves that we are still tourists in the world of our life!"

It's SO hard to visit great places unless you convince yourself your time their is temporary.
